Rhythms and music are an important part of creating. From classical to techno, disco to rap. Music defines Annet’s imagination and mood. Music is always on in the former “music school” where she lives and works. “Boogie’s” sketches are created to music. She dreams away and says … “I’m at a dance festival. I hear a DJ playing a mix of all kinds of movements. I become part of it.”
She wears ear protection only while welding and grinding. When she sketches or paints, she always turns on the music. Then naturally flowing shapes and vertical surfaces emerge. Thus, “Boogie” actually comes from music. It is a kind of trance; you have to become one with the music. Hard and rough iron becomes soft and is powder coated in a red color. Her big dream is to see the rhythms and reflections of her sculptures in a large art installation during a Tech festival. In synergy with the creative beats of a Dutch DJ.
